What curriculum is used? A wide variety of diagnostic and teaching materials will be used including review packets for the current and prior grade levels, math games, and hands-on activities. Many students bring along their school textbook to get help with their current class. Mental math, thinking skills, and algebra readiness concepts are emphasized more than in a typical classroom to lead students toward long-term success in math.
How often should a student be tutored? This depends on the student's needs. During the school year, most students benefit from a weekly one-hour lesson. If a student is working below grade level, it may be better to schedule two lessons per week. In the summer, students will make faster progress by coming up to five hours per week. It's up to you!
How is progress monitored and communicated? A brief tutoring report will be given to the student at the end of each lesson. If a student brings homework, the page numbers or topics will be listed with any notes. For students in Grades K-8, progress will also be marked on a checklist of math goals for current and/or prior grades. The goal numbers will be listed on the tutoring report.
What if the student needs to miss a scheduled lesson? Please give a 24-hour notice if the student will not be able to attend a scheduled lesson. Missed lessons can be rescheduled for later the same week or as an extra lesson the following week. With less than 24-hour notice, up to one lesson per sessions paid can be rescheduled or canceled due to illness or emergency with no penalty. All lessons in a discounted package should be used within the agreed time frame with one extra week allowed for making up any missed lessons.
What payments are accepted? Payments can be made in cash, cash app, Vemo,or PayPal. Make PayPal payments can be made to: email@example.com. Payments are due when tutoring sessions are scheduled to hold the time slot.
